Porträt George von Roenne (1790-1838), russischer Generalmajor. Roenne ist als Bär mit Porträtkopf dargestellt. Neben dem Titel "George v. Roenne" und einem Vers unter dem Bild, ist der linke Rand der Zeichnung mit einem großen und einem kleinen "B" versehen. - nachträglich mit einem Kreuz hinter Titel/Namen versehen - das große "B" am linken Bildrand ist bereits zu Teilen verblasst und nur noch schwer zu erkennen [Bildunterschrift] Seht tanzen hier den wilden Baer/ Er ist so zahm als irgend wer.Biografisches George von Roenne (1790–1838), ein russischer Generalmajor, stammte aus einer Adelsfamilie mit Besitzungen in u.a. Kurland. Bekannt ist, dass er kaiserlich russischer Generalmajor und später Kommandeur des Leibgarde-Ulanen-Regiments war. Er heiratete 1822 Angelica Jadko-Narkiewicz. (1) Die Familie von Roenne gilt als baltisches Adelsgeschlecht, das ursprünglich aus Kehdingen stammte. 1710 wurden sie zu russischen Baronen erhoben. (2) „Baron Rönne aus Kurland, ein hübscher Mann rauhen Wesens, aber wenn er wollte liebenswürdig. Das interessanteste an ihm war eine Fistel, die Folge einer Wunde, in der linken Brust; er hatte sich diese in einem Duell geholt und sie war schlecht geheilt worden; wir hörten, daß täglich eine große Menge Baumwolle in diesen geheimnißvollen Gang gestopft werden mußte, und diese immer wiederholte Operation durchaus nicht schmerzlos sei; wahrscheinlich wäre unser Mitleid für Herrn von Rönne stärker gewesen, wenn wir uns nicht vor ihm gefürchtet hätten.“ (Emilie von Binzer, Drei Sommer in Löbichau, S. 90) 1 O.V.: Die Familie von Rönne im Baltikum, S.19.
