Description
Português: O Forte de Paimogo (ou Nossa Senhora dos Anjos de Paimogo), classificado como Imóvel de Interesse Público pelo Decreto nº 41191, de 18 de Julho de 1957, está situado sobre as arribas da Praia de Paimogo.

Foi construído em 1674 por ordem de D. António Luís de Menezes, Conde de Cantanhede também conhecido por Marquês de Marialva e herói das guerras da Restauração.

Tinha por missão específica a defesa da praia do mesmo nome, de modo a impedir o eventual desembarque de tropas inimigas naquele local de fácil acesso.

Trata-se de um pequeno forte abaluartado, de arquitetura militar barroca, de planta quadrangular que possui guaritas cilíndricas de cobertura cónicas.

Este forte estava integrado na segunda linha defensiva fortificada, que começava na Praça Forte da vila de Peniche e se estendia até à Barra do Tejo.

É um exemplar quase único de fortificação posterior à Restauração sem alterações arquitetónicas. Com o fim da Guerra Civil acabou a missão do Forte de Nossa Senhora dos Anjos de Paimogo como fortificação marítima. <a href="https://cm-lourinha.pt/menu/480/forte-paimogo" rel="noreferrer nofollow">cm-lourinha.pt/menu/480/forte-paimogo</a>
