Description
English: Folkestone, Kent

Folkestone has been a busy Channel ferry port since the 19th century, linking Britain to the continent. It started to develop as a seaside resort after the railway came to the town in the 1840s. Before the development of the resort, fishing was a mainstay of Folkestone’s economy. Some fishing continued after the tourist industry took off, as this photograph suggests.
