English: LIBI_00019_00527; This item is an original albumen, card-mounted photograph of a group on the front steps of the Custer residence at Fort Lincoln. The photograph is 5 1/8 x 7 1/4" (8 x 10" mounted) and was produced circa 1875. As noted on page 105 of D. Mark Katz's book, the photographer was Orlando S. Goff. Slight foxing is evident on the front of the image. Katz identifies the subjects, from left to right, as: Lieutenant Colonel George A. Custer, Mrs. Margaret C. Calhoun, Lieutenant James Calhoun, Mrs. Annie Yates, Miss Agnes Bates, Mrs. Elizabeth B. Custer and Captain William Thompson. On the verso, a handwritten notation in pencil reads, "Our house at Lincoln before it was burned/Headquarters Ft. Lincoln 1875." Handwritten description on the verso provided Elizabeth B.
