Summary

The upper part of the building was destroyed during the Spanish conquest of Mexico. The building's base is L-shaped, and two staircases, including this one, led to the building's entrance. The House of Eagles would have been used by the members of the Eagle and Jaguar Warrior orders to discuss military matters and perform private religious ceremonies, including the offering of human blood before idols of the Lord of Death, Mictlantecuhtli. The Cuahchicqueh (shorn) Warriors also had access to the precinct. |
