“New York July 16 1824
Friend Richard
I received on the 10th inst 19 Bbls pork (in place of 20 Bbls as advised) which were sent to Lewis inspection yard same day, and turned out as per Copy of Inspectors bill annexed. As the present price of Pork is high and the general impression is it will do no better I have thought most to your advantage to dispose of it forthwith and have sold the Prime at $11 1/8 and the refuse PP & Cargo at 9 Dolls Cash delivered at the yard which saves expense of carting 1/ pr bbl The refuse PP the inspector informs me was soft and not entirely sweet therefore could not be branded. The one dollar bill [illegible?] was [entered?] when I wrote you last I will forward a price currant tomorrow in haste
