Summary
[edit]DescriptionEdmondscote weir, River Leam, Leamington Spa - geograph.org.uk - 1217307.jpg |
English: Edmondscote weir, River Leam, Leamington Spa Built around 1860, it was the key to a number of improvements to the river through the town.
The wide cascade of water is probably the result of damage to the weir: a 19th century Frith photo shows water falling uniformly across the weir, when it was referred to as the waterfall. Beyond the weir is the Art Deco Prince's Drive road bridge, opened 1923, and recently refurbished. Beyond that is the railway viaduct, built around 1850 to carry the line between Coventry and Leamington. |
