Description |
Die Lilith war weltweit eine der ersten Workstations mit einem hochauflösenden grafikfähigen Bildschirm und einer Maus. Sie wurde von Niklaus Wirth und seiner Gruppe zwischen 1978 und 1980 entwickelt. Die gesamte Systemsoftware der Lilith war in Modula-2 geschrieben, eine strukturierte Programmiersprache, die Wirth zur selben Zeit entwickelte. Die Programme wurden in low-level M-Code-Instruktionen compiliert, welche von der Hardware ausgeführt werden konnten. Als Benutzerinterface wurden Fenster, Icons und Popup-Menus verwendet, im Vergleich zu den damaligen textbasierten Systemen waren dies neue Metaphern im Umgang mit Computern. Die Lilith-Computer wurden sowohl in der Lehre - ein Hauptgrund für die Entwicklung der Lilith - als auch in der Verwaltung des Instituts für Informatik verwendet. Zudem bildete die Workstation eine Basis, auf der verschiedene andere Forschungsprojekte aufbauten. Ein Versuch zum kommerziellen Bau dieses Computers scheiterte 1982. |
