Summary

[edit]
Description On 2 July 2019 a total solar eclipse was visible from ESO’s La Silla Observatory in Chile. 1000 people came from around the world for the chance to view this amazing event in an equally amazing place. These visitors saw the Moon cover the Sun completely, briefly turning day into night — a rare event that La Silla won’t see again until 2231. The ESOcast Light is a series of short videos bringing you the wonders of the Universe in bite-sized pieces. The ESOcast Light episodes will not be replacing the standard, longer ESOcasts, but complement them with current astronomy news and images in ESO press releases.
