  • Heavy rainfall, strong winds, storm surge, and severe flooding caused by the passage of Hurricane IAN on 28-29 September over Florida resulted in more than 80 fatalities in Florida, including 42 in Lee County (south-west coast of Florida, where IAN made landfall), while a number of people are missing. Additional four fatalities were reported in North Carolina.

Many people across Florida remain without access to drinking water, while 138 healthcare facilities have been impacted. As of 2 October, there were 3,607 persons displaced to 44 shelters in Florida, as reported by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). * The water level of many rivers across Florida is above the major flood stage.

  • Hurricane IAN dissipated on 2 October over the Atlantic Ocean, but its remnants continue to bring heavy rainfall and strong winds over eastern USA. On 3-4 October, moderate to heavy rainfall is forecast over north-eastern USA, while light rainfall is expected over north-eastern Florida.
