  • Fire fighting operations continue due to a forest fire that is burning in the Bohemian Switzerland National Park (northern Czechia) and in the Saxony Switzerland National Park (central-eastern Germany).
  • According to the Czech Fire Rescue Service (HZSCR), ten people sustained injuries on 31 July during operations, increasing the total number of injured people to 49. The affected area is approximately 1,060 ha on the Czech side and 150 ha on the German side.
  • In Czechia, 750 firefighters plus six helicopters (two of which are from Slovakia through the EU's Civil Protection Mechanism) and five fire-fighting aircraft (two of which are from the rescEU reserve in Sweden) and 10 German helicopters (in the border area) were deployed. Residents can return to the Vysoká Lípa area. Other locations, including the Municipalities of Hrensko, Janov, Mezná, and Mezní Louka remain inaccessible.
  • The EU's Copernicus Emergency Mapping Service (EMSR610) has produced three mpas of the area affected by the fire.
  • According to the European Forest Fire Information System (EFFIS), the fire risk is expected to be from very low to low on 1 and 2 August over northern Czechia and central-eastern Germany.
