Description
Nederlands: Video Mbambim, a lineage-head in Ayikpèrè, North Togo. (Vertaling: Mbambim, een stamhoofd in Ayikpèrè, Noord-Togo.)
Mbambim staat aan het hoofd van een uitgebreide familie in een klein dorpje in noord Togo. Enerzijds zien we Mbambim in de funktie van familiehoofd, anderzijds als mens met zijn persoonlijke problemen. Hij mist volgens sommigen het gezag dat nodig is voor het bijeenhouden van zijn verwantengroep. Na de dood van zijn eerste vrouw is hij niet goed opgewassen tegen de ruzies tussen zijn verwanten en dreigt de familie uiteen te vallen. Analyse van zijn situatie door een waarzegger helpt Mbambim zijn positie te herstellen.

Mbambim est à la tête d'une famille élargie dans un petit village du nord du Togo. D'un côté on voit Mbambim dans la position de chef de famille, de l'autre comme une personne avec ses problèmes personnels. Selon certains, il n'a pas l'autorité nécessaire pour garder les membres de sa famille ensemble. Après la mort de sa première femme, il est incapable de faire face aux querelles entre ses proches et la famille menace de s'effondrer. L'analyse de sa situation par un devin aide Mbambim à rétablir sa position.

English: Video Mbambim, a lineage head in Ayikpèrè, North Togo.
Mbambim heads an extended family in a small village in northern Togo. On the one hand we see Mbambim in the position of head of the family, on the other hand as a person with his personal problems. According to some, he lacks the authority necessary to keep his kin group together. After the death of his first wife, he is unable to cope with the quarrels between his relatives and the family threatens to fall apart. Analysis of his situation by a soothsayer helps Mbambim to restore his position.
