Description

St. Nicholas' Church, Church Street, Dundalk, County Louth, Ireland

English: Panel at location 4c with Netherlandish glass from c. 1520, depicting David returning in triumph, possibly after the print by Jan Saenredam (which in turn followed a painting by Lucas van Leyden) where Goliath's head is stuck on David's sword, held in triumph. 1 Samuel 18:6–7: “And it came to pass as they came, when David was returned from the slaughter of the Philistine, that the women came out of all cities of Israel, singing and dancing, to meet king Saul, with tabrets, with joy, and with instruments of musick. And the women answered one another as they played, and said, Saul hath slain his thousands, and David his ten thousands.” Before 1960 at position 16 according to the notes by John Ribton Garstin.
