Double loop asymmetrical buckle
Description
English: A elaborate copper alloy double loop asymmetrical buckle . This type of buckle is post medieval in date and was most popular between 1575 and 1700. The frame has an triangular extension with openwork moulding consisting of four circular cut outs. Each of the corners of the triangular extension has two lobed knops. The frame itself is asymmetrical with one side of the central rectangular section bar being trapezoidal, the other B shaped. The trapezoidal end of the frame has moulded decoration consisting of triangular cut outs running its length. The central bar is flanked by two hemispherical knobs, whereas the B shaped end also has two decorative extensions. The buckle measures 34.07mm in length and 17.12mm in width.
