English: Dornier Komet II D-223, with 260 hp Rolls-Royce Falcon engine, stopping temporarily at Waalhaven Airport, Rotterdam, on 30 December, 1922, during the first ever flight by a German airliner from Berlin to London. The flight to London was completed the following day. (Compare with File:Dornier Komet 2, op Vliegveld Waalhaven, Rotterdam, 1922.jpg and File:Dornier Komet II D-223 Waalhaven Airport Rotterdam 1922 - SFA005000073.jpg, which clearly show the same event, since both the surroundings and the aircraft are the same, right down to the pattern of congealed mud on the aircraft's tires!) |
