Summary
[edit]DescriptionDoncaster Locomotive Depot 'in Store' geograph-2873821-by-Ben-Brooksbank.jpg |
English: Ex-NER 0-6-0 'in Store' and forlorn at Doncaster Locomotive Depot. This is one of the few - of 201 - NER Worsdell Class C (LNER J21) general purpose 0-6-0s which drifted south to the GE Section in the 1930s to substitute for GE 2-4-0s sent to the NE. On its way back north No. 65070 was laid up for some time at Doncaster - the sack on the chimney indicates that it was 'In Store'. It was built in 1/1891 at Gateshead as No. 26 and like all NER locomotives retained its number after Grouping, until in 1946 becoming No. 5070 and survived as No. 65070 until 9/60. |
