Summary

English: Dinorwig Quarry Hospital from the west The Dinorwig Quarry Hospital. Quarries were dangerous places to work in, and accidents were common. In 1850, the management decided to establish its own hospital, housed at first in a building at Dinorwig, but later moved to the purpose built building shown in the photograph. The hospital had its own resident surgeon. The coming of the NHS led to its eventual closure in 1952. It is now a part of the slate museum. and is open to visitors. |
