Description
English: Devotieprentje (Van Sande, Antwerpen, 1640-1710), gedrukt op stof, met afbeelding van een corpus van Christus (de "Zwarte Christus") met links en rechts een kaars, onder een baldakijn. Bovenaan de Franse tekst: "est Touche au crucifix Miraculeux". Onder de prent: "Cecij est vraij Pourtrait du crucifix miraculeux/ chez les Religieuses dames blanches a Mastricht/ lequel est crue d une noix a la hauteur de six pieds". Onderaan rechts: "Io. Van S.". Het 13e-eeuwse beeld van de Zwarte Christus werd eeuwenlang vereerd in het Wittevrouwenklooster aan het Vrijthof in Maastricht. Na de opheffing van het klooster in 1796 verhuisde het beeld naar de Sint-Martinuskerk in Wyck, waar de devotie werd voortgezet. Formaat: 9.9 x 7.8 cm.
