Notes: Forms part of: Lyda Hill Texas Collection of Photographs in Carol M. Highsmith's America Project in the Carol M. Highsmith Archive.; This was the site of the Texas Centennial of 1936, when artists and artisans from around Texas, the nation, and the world created remarkable Art Deco murals, statues, and architecture, in which every building had its own theme. Since the site was then, and became the permanent home of, the Texas State Fair, many of the murals were later covered over by simple paint jobs as they deteriorated over the years, only to be rediscovered when other artisans scraped the walls in the 1980s and beyond.; Artist: Pierre Bourdelle (Source: frenchsculpture.org, 2014); Gift; The Lyda Hill Foundation; 2014; (DLC/PP-2014:054).; Title, date and keywords based on information provided by the photographer.; Credit line: The Lyda Hill Texas Collection of Photographs in Carol M.
