  • Significance: The Powerscourt Bridge is one of the oldest covered bridges in Canada and the only surviving type of a McCallum type truss in the world. Patented in 1851 and 1857, the McCallum truss was used on North American railways until about 1870, when prefabricated iron trusses came into widespread use.
