Description
Bahasa Indonesia: Batang rel ketiga yang bangun SS pada tahun 1899 terjadi seusai dicapainya kesepakatan pada tahun 1895. SS diperbolehkan NIS untuk membangunnya tetapi dengan catatan SS harus memenuhi syarat-syarat yang diajukan NIS. Syarat-syarat itu adalah :

1. Pemasangan batang rel ketiga ditanggung pemerintah. 2. Setelah selesai dipasang, batang rel ketiga menjadi milik NIS. 3. Angkutan lokal antara Solo–Yogyakarta sampai Srandakan menjadi monopoli NIS.

Pemerintah akhirnya menyetujui kemauan NIS. Pemasangan batang rel ketiga selesai pada tahun 1899 tapi penggunaannya baru terlaksana pada tahun 1905. Pada tahun 1929, SS membangun jalur baru di samping jalur dobel gauge milik NIS.
