English: De Ruyter's arrival in the Wester Ems, 27 July/6 Aug 1665

In the right middle-distance, the ‘Spiegel’, viewed from abaft the starboard beam, lying at anchor head to wind; flag and pendant at the main and pendant at the fore; firing a salute. In the left foreground, a starboard quarter view of a States yacht ('t groot & cleijn Jacht) and crossing her bows another States yacht before the wind. A bezan yacht is in the right foreground.

This is a pencil and wash drawing by the Elder, with a false signature in brown ink ‘WVV.’
