  • Significance: Prior to processing in the draining and drying building the hydraulically mined sand was moved by a conveyor from the quarry pit to the plant's two wash bins. Upon reaching the wash bins the raw materials were cleaned in a two-step process: first, scalping screens, mounted on top of the wash bins, removed large debris and unusable lumps of sand. Second, after passing through the screens, the material, comprised largely of sand and clayey sand, was sprayed with a strong jet of water...
