Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Creeping thistles [Cirsium arvense] The right hand one is healthy. The left hand one is infected by a rust fungus [Puccinia punctiformis]. The thistle is perennial, and so is the fungus. The fungus stunts the thistle, and makes it look yellow and sickly. The underside of the infected leaves are brown, with pustules of spores, and infected plants smell like honey. The smell attracts insects that feed on and disperse the spores.
