Summary
[edit]DescriptionCotehele House, The Christmas Garland - geograph.org.uk - 1604452.jpg |
English: Cotehele House, The Christmas Garland National Trust staff and local volunteers have continued the ancient tradition of making a Garland every Christmas and hanging it in the Great Hall of the house, with other traditional decorations.
It gives a feeling of how the Hall must have appeared in the past, and despite the blazing log fire (it's bigger than it looks) it is COLD ! It is well worth the visit. The Garland is 60 feet long, and is made up of some 30,000 dried flowers that are grown on the Cotehele estate by the gardeners. In recent years local schools have helped to make another smaller Garland that is hung in the Barn restaurant at the House. See 1604431. |
