The production date of 1602 is conjectured by the subject of the manuscript. These notes describe the first nine volumes of Theodor de Bry's America, which were printed in Frankfurt-am-Main from 1590-1602
The text of this manuscipt is written in two columns in one hand
These leaves were probably excised from a much larger work which may have concerned reading or bibliographic study, perhaps from the notebook of an unnamed advanced student
"Admiranda narratio fida tamen, de commodis et incolarum ritibus Virginiae, nuper admodum ab Anglis, qui à Dn. Richardo Greinvile equestris ordinis viro eò in coloniam anno M.D.LXXXV", part 1, was a publication: of A briefe and true report of the new found land of Virginia / by Thomas Harriot, first printed London, 1588, and which was issued by de Bry in Latin, English, French and German in 1590, and later editions. The first section is extracted and translated from and translated into Spanish from the title page, and parts of of de Bry's publication of Heriot's text
"Brevis narratio eorum quae in Florida Americae provi[n]cia Gallis acciderunt, secunda in illam nauigatione, duce Renato de Laudo[n]niere classis praefecto anno M D LXIIII", part 2, was a publication of: L'histoire notable de la Floride / by Jacques le Moyne de Morgues, first printed Paris, 1586 and which was issued by de Bry in Latin and German in 1591, and later editions
"Americae tertia pars Memorabile[m] provinciae Brasiliae historiam contine[n]s, Germanico primùm sermone scriptam à Ioa[n]ne Stadio Homburgensi Hesso, nunc autem Latinitate donatam à Teucrio Annaeo Priuato Colchanthe Po: & Med: addita est narratio profectionis Ioannis Lerij in eamdem provinciam, qua[m] ille initio Gallicè conscripsit, postea verò Latinam fecit", part 3, is a publication of: Warhaftige Historia und Beschreibung eyner Landtschafft der wilden, nacketen, grimmigen Menschfresser Leuthen in der Newenwelt America gelegen, first printed Marburg, 1557, Histoire d'un voyage fait en la terre du Brésil, first printed La Rochelle, 1578 and which first appeared in Latin under title: Historia navigationis in Brasiliam, quae et America dicitur, Geneva, 1586, and two letters by Nicolas Barré first printed in: Copie de quelques letres sur la navigation du chevalier de Villegaignon es terre de l'Amerique oultre l'oequinoctial, iusques soubz le Tropique de Capricorne, printed Paris, 1557, and again in Paris, 1558, and which were issued by de Bry in Latin and German from 1593 to 1597, and later editions

Sive, Insignis & admiranda historia de reperta primùm Occidentali India à Christophoro Columbo anno M CCCCXCII", part 4, was a publication of book one of: Historia del Mondo Nuovo / by Girolamo Benzoni, first printed Venice, 1565, which was first printed in Latin, Geneva, 1578, under title: Novae Novi Orbis historiae, and which was issued by de Bry in Latin and German in 1594, and later editions

Addita est tertio nauigatio recens, quam 4. nauium praefectus Olevier à Noort proximè suscepit: qui Freto Magellanico classe transmisso, triennij spatio vniuersum terrae orbem seu globum mira navigationis forte obiuit: annexis illis, quae in itinere isto singularia ac memorabiliora notata sunt", part 9, was contained Acosta's Historia natural y moral de las Indias, published in Seville in 1590 [sic, actually translated, by J. Humberger, from Historie naturael ende morael van de Westersche Indien, printed Haarlem, 1598]. Then follows the voyage of Sebald de Weert made in a vessel which was part of the fleet sent to the Moluccas by way of the Straits of Magellan in June, 1598. The project was disastrous and de Weert's vessel was the only one to return. The narrative was written by Zacharias Heyns [sic, actually attributed to Barent Jansz Potgieter] and was first published at Amsterdam in 1600. It was translated into German and then into Latin by the de Brys [actually both translated into both languages by Gotthard Arthus]. This is followed by the Additamentum, which contains a narration of the voyage of Olivier van Noort, understaken with the same object as that of de Weert's. An account of this voyage was published in 1602 by Cornelis Claes, and which was issued by de Bry in Latin and German in 1601 to1602, and later editions
