Two days ago, XRT beamed back some nice images of a coronal mass ejection (CME) and the associated X-flare, beautifully positioned on the east limb. Seen here in the midst of erupting, the attached movie also captures material being flung off into space almost an hour earlier. This event comes from NOAA active region 11429, which has been spouting off flares at a prodigious rate over the last few days, including this and another X-class event earlier today. With a week and a half or so left on the Earth-facing side of the Sun, it seems likely that we'll be treated to at least a few more great flares before 11429 disappears around the west limb.
