  • Significance: The Middle Ford American Sycamore (Platanus occidentalis) is significant because of its longevity and exceptional size. It is also significant due to its association with the original Georgetown Road and the Middle Ford ferry crossing and tavern during the eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries, as well as its proximity to the Civil War Battle of Monocacy.
