Summary
[edit]DescriptionConcorde was small, but not this small^ - geograph.org.uk - 614477.jpg |
English: Concorde was small, but not this small! This is the 40% scale model Concorde (G-CONC) that stood from 1990 - 2007 at the end of the spur into Heathrow Airport, as an advertisement for British Airways. It was moved in 2007 to the Brooklands Museum in Weybridge - BAC at Brooklands was where much of the design and manufacture of Concorde took place. (See http://www.concordeproject.com/gconc.htm for a description of the move).
The small huts in the background are the Pratts Petrol Pagoda, built in 1922 along with ones for BP and Shell, to supply fuel for racing drivers on the Brookwood motor circuit. The modern offices behind and to the right are part of "The Heights" Business Park. |
