Description Arms of Sir George Amyand, 1st Baronet (1720–1766): Vert, a chevron between three garbs or with an inescutcheon of pretence Or, on a chief azure a crescent argent (Korten), with canton of a baronet (Red Hand of Ulster). Detail from Pipe organ in SS Peter and Mary Magdalene parish church, Barnstaple, Devon, donated by him. One of the largest organs in Devon. John Crang made it in 1764, paid for by Sir George Aymand, Bart, MP for Barnstaple 1754–66.[1] In 1748 he married Anna Maria Korten (d. 1767), daughter and heiress of John Abraham Korten (1690-1742) a German merchant from Elberfeld who in 1718 had become a naturalised English subject.
