[edit]DescriptionClachan of Campsie - geograph.org.uk - 40319.jpg |
English: Clachan of Campsie. A small hamlet in the shadow of the Campsie hills, The ruins of St Machans church can be seen on the left and some lovely walks can be had from here up Tom Weir's Way. This is a walk up Campsie Glen which was unveiled to mark the 90th birthday of the famous broadcaster, writer and mountaineer in 2004. Although Tom is widely known for his travels throughout scotland on Weir's Way and for his many books on mountain ranges throughout the world it was in the Campsies that he and many other great Scottish Mountaineers first cut their teeth in the mountaineering world. |
