Summary
[edit]DescriptionCil Maenan Farmhouse, Llanfaethlu - geograph.org.uk - 1406486.jpg |
English: Cil Maenan Farmhouse, Llanfaethlu This was the home of Richard Evans the Bonesetter (1772-1851). Richard was the third son of Evan Thomas, believed to be Spanish and who, with his brother, was rescued from the sea as a young child off the Skerries by the pirate Dannie Lukie in 1745 and given a home at Mynachdy, Llanfairynghornwy SH3092. Growing up, he showed remarkable skills at bone setting, skills that were inherited by his sons, grandsons and great-grandsons, including Hugh Owen Thomas, the inventor of the famous "Thomas Splint", and Brig. Sir Robert Jones, the founder of the Gobowen Orthopaedic Hospital.
