English: The problem of world over-population grows more acute year by year and by 1967 the United Nations had established the UN Fund for Population Activities (UNFPA), the role of which is to make governments aware of the economic and social implications of population problems ; to give sustained assistance to developing countries seeking to solve these problems ; to help organizations involved with population questions to make UNFPA-supported projects effective. For its part, UNESCO's activities in this field are concentrated on aspects of education, communication, social and human sciences. These ill-equipped wooden huts are rapidly disappearing as the Government is building modern appartments to replace them. Here children are washing at an outdoor tap
Français : Le problème de la surpopulation devient chaque année plus aigu et c'est vers 1967 que l'ONU a créé le Fonds des Nations Unies pour les activités en matière de population (UNFPA) dont le rôle est de faire prendre conscience aux gouvernements des implications économiques et sociales dues aux problèmes de population ; d'assister d'une manière continue les pays en voie de développement cherchant à résoudre ces problèmes ; d'aider les organismes intéressés ; à rendre effectifs les projets soutenus par l'UNFPA. Pour sa part, l'UNESCO concentre ses activités en ce domaine sur l'aspect éducation, l'information, les sciences sociales et humaines. Ces cabanes de bois, mal aménagées, sont rapidement remplacées par des appartements modernes construits par le Gouvernment. Ici, des enfants font leur toilette à la fontaine commune
