Schematic illustration of charge on plates on photosensitive capacitor as a function of time before and during illumination.

Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Illustration of charge on the plates of a photosensitive capacitor in series with a resistor. Before time t0 the capacitor is in the dark and the charge of plates is determined by Cdark. At time t0 and after, the capacitor is under illumination and the capacitance changes to Clight, resulting in the amount of charge the plates can accommodate changing. The excess charge then flows off of the plates over a period of time determined by the resistor R.
