Description

Testate amoeba with lobose pseudopodia moving across a microscope slide. The pseudopod extends out in the direction of movement and the movement is apparently half-amoeboid half-gliding.

Date: 16 Aug 2011

Location: Freshwater fish pond in concrete tank, outside Life Science Lab 7, National University of Singapore. Walls were covered in filamentous cyanobacteria, and the bottom with fish waste. Water was mostly clear.

Microscope: Bright-field with closed condenser aperture.

Camera: Nikon D7000

Scale: Field of view is about 240 micrometers across.
