| Description |
English: Canal boating as a spectator-sport Second only to Rugby League in this area is the traditional sport of boater-baiting, and on this warm Sunday a crowd of some 150 people of all ages had congregated at Five Rise Locks to give their 'advice', in broad Yorkshire vowels and sometimes ribald terms, to the boaters using the locks. Fortunately on this occasion my crew were able to give as good as they got. |
