Clip of en:Image:Ca10 108.gif California Congressional District 10, from U.S. National Atlas (printable congressional districts map section) For en:California government and politics#Bi-partisan gerrymandering. This once compact and politically balanced district achieved national attention when Democrat Ellen Tauscher defeated incumbent Republican Representative Bill Baker. In the 2000 redistricting all seats were made safe for the parties of incumbent officeholders. The district was extended to include Livermore on Ms. Tauscher's request (as a member of the House Energy committee she has some oversight responsibilities over the Department of Energy, and hence indirectly of Livermore National Laboratories). |
