Güstrow, Bürgerhäuser am Markt ADN-ZB Pätzold-26.10.88 Bez. Schwerin: Barlachstadt Güstrow- Die mit 38.000 Einwohnern größte Kreisstadt des Bezirkes steht gegenwärtig hauptsächlich als Heimatort von Ernst Barlach im Mittelpunkt des öffentlichen Interesses. Er hatte zwischen 1910 und 1938 hier gelebt und gearbeitet. Die einstige Residenz mecklenburgischer Herzöge hat sich zu einem bedeutenden Zentrum der Kultur und Wirtschaft des Nordens entwickelt. Restaurierte Bürgerhäuser am Markt und Plastiken verschiedener Künstler der DDR prägen das Antlitz der Stadt heute.
