Summary

[edit]
Description The buildings to the left in this photograph occupied the top of a natural hill above the river level in Washington, DC about 3.5 miles northwest of the White House and about 800 feet from the nearest carline. The building to the extreme right was the latest of the NBS laboratories in 1919, and was intended for industrial research. The long two-story building in the middle foreground was the new laboratory for research in Radio Communication, in which was housed the radio research of the War Department, the Navy Department, and NBS, which were conducted cooperatively.
