English: "Provinciaal Hof" in Brugge (provincial government palace). Brugge, West-Flanders, Belgium.
Deutsch: Das neogotische Gebäude des „Provinciaal Hof" am „Grote Markt" von Brügge war der ehem. Sitz der Regionalregierung von Westflandern. Bis 1787 stand hier die 95 m lange und etwa 30 m hohe „Waterhalle“, die 1294 als zentraler Punkt des Brügger Hafens mitten im Herzen der Stadt errichtet worden war. Als die Schiffe die Halle nicht mehr erreichen konnten, wurde sie 1787 abgerissen und durch ein neoklassizistisches Gebäude ersetzt. Ab 1850 wurde ein Teil dieses Gebäudes für die Sitzungen der Provinzregierung genutzt, bis es 1878 abbrannte. Ein Ersatzbau im neugotischen Stil, der den Sitz der Provinzialregierung und ein Postamt beherbergen sollte, wurde 1887 von den Architekten Louis Delacenserie und René Buyck begonnen. Das Postamt wurde 1891 eröffnet, der erste Teil des „Provinciaal Hofs“ 1892. Die letzten Gebäudeteile wurden 1920 fertiggestellt.(Quelle: Provinciaal Hof/History, übersetzt mit Deepl-Übersetzer) |
