Summary
[edit]DescriptionBottom Lock, Stourport - geograph.org.uk - 592533.jpg |
English: Bottom Lock, Stourport This is the bottom of two pairs of narrow locks taking the Staffordshire and Worcestershire Canal from Stourport Basin onto the River Severn (just beyond the bridge). The locks are built as staircase pairs, the bottom gate of one lock being also the top gate of the lock below, and are designed with a flood overspill area for enthusiastic lock operators who forget to empty the bottom lock before emptying the one above. There are also two wide locks further east. |
