Title |
Bird mount |
||
Description |
English: A cast copper alloy eagle mount of Roman date, 43-410.
The mount was cast in two halves, with flash marks visible on all faces, though more worn in some places. The eagle is sitting, wings folded and head forward on a tubular socket, which has a circular perforation on each side at its base. Punches C- and V-shapes indicate feathers on the eagles wings, back, tail, and breast.The bird is dark green in colour some evidence of red enamel remaining. |
