Description
Nederlands: Ingekleurd devotieprentje (Van Sande, Antwerpen, 1640-1710) met boogvormige afbeelding van een corpus van Christus met aureool (de "Zwarte Christus") omgeven door aanbidders en achteraan een kerk. Bij de gelovigen: vooraan geknielde moeder met kind en mnd, een man op krukken, een man met pelgrimsstaf en hoed, een religieuze in habijt (een zuster van het Wittevrouwenklooster?) en een vrouw met een diadeem. Bovenaan de Franse tekst: "est Touche au crucifix". Onder de prent: "Cecij est le vraij Pourtrait du crucifix miraculeux/ chez les Religieuses dames blancher a Mastricht/ le quel est crue d' une noix ala hauteur de six pieds". Onderaan rechts: "Io. van Sande". Het 13e-eeuwse beeld van de Zwarte Christus werd eeuwenlang vereerd in het Wittevrouwenklooster aan het Vrijthof in Maastricht. Na de opheffing van het klooster in 1796 verhuisde het beeld naar de Sint-Martinuskerk in Wyck, waar de devotie werd voortgezet. Formaat: 9.1 x 6.1 cm.
