Summary

[edit]
Description
English: "Bi disks. Neolithic period, Liangzhu culture, about 2500 BC. The quality of disc no. 2 is exceptionally fine and it was probably one of the pieces placed at the centre of the body in a tomb. No 3 is also well carved and among the largest discs known. The concave groove around its outer edge required extra wokr and is therefore quite rare. Large discs, like very tall cong, may have been made only for very special use either in life or after death. Cat. 4.1, 4.3, 4.4, 4.5" In the British Museum.
