Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Beacon Hill, Grimston, East Riding of Yorkshire, England.
World War Two concrete pillbox on the top of Beacon Hill, at about 25 metres above sea level on the North Sea coast just north of Grimston. Three beacons were recorded at Grimston in 1588 and two structures, most probably beacons, are shown on a 17th century map. Thomas Grimston (d. 1821) raised and led forces of yeoman cavalry from Holderness between 1794 and 1814 and a beacon was maintained on Beacon Hill in the early part of the 19th century.
