  • Significance: This building serves as an excellent example of military construction from the 1940s, and is significant as part of the WWII buildup of the base. Facility 40 is located within the Pearl Harbor National Historic Landmark and is a contributing element. It is significant for its association with the history of the Naval Magazine at West Loch and the expansion of facilities at Pearl Harbor during World War II and for its association with the conduct of naval mine operations in the Pacific.
