English: An early map of the East Indian Archipelago, showing the Spice Islands and covering an area from Sumatra and Southeast Asia in the west to Nova Guinea [New Guinea] in the east. The map is notable for the inscription, "Huc Franciscus Dra[co] Appulit" - the place where Francis Drake landed to the southern coast of Java. Decorative features include a sea battle, a sea monster, two compass roses and three decorated cartouches. -- Dealer's description.
