English: Auld Kirk Alloway The kirk was built in 1516 on the site of an earlier church. Robert Burns buried his father here in 1784. He also used the Kirk as the setting for his well-known tale, "Tam O'Shanter", in which the hero finds witches dancing in the building. (Source: Information Sign). |
