Summary
[edit]DescriptionAtypical small acinar proliferation - alt -- intermed mag.jpg |
English: Micrograph of an atypical small acinar proliferation, abbreviated ASAP.
ASAP is a diagnosis used only on biopsy. Like ASCUS, it is an expression of uncertainty. It may be used interchangably with suspicious for carcinoma. ASAP is preferred of the suspicious for carcinoma as it is hard to misread as invasive carcinoma. The main differential diagnosis of ASAP is (minimal) prostate adenocarcinoma. There are no agreed upon extent criteria for calling cancer; however, agreement among experts is low with 5 or less glands.[1] Related images
