Description
Nederlands: Deze kaart van Kaap de Goede Hoop en de Tafelberg is een van de vele illustraties bij reisverslag van de Amsterdamse wereldreiziger Johan Nieuhof. Tussen 1655 en 1658 vergezelde hij een Nederlands gezantschap op een expeditie naar China. Na terugkomst publiceerde hij zijn belevenissen in een zeer populair boek.; Linksonder een inzet met een gezicht op de Tafelberg.
English: The map of Cape of Good Hope and the Tafelberg is one of the many illustrations in the travel journal of Johan Nieuhof, a worldtraveller from Amsterdam, which was published in 1655. Nieuhoff accompanied from 1655 to 1658 a delegation of the Dutch East India Company (VOC) to the Emperor of China. After his return he had his journals published. The book was one of the great bestsellers of its time.
